RINGRAZIAMO SILVIA MALANCHIN PER QUESTA TRADUZIONE, E PER LE PROSSIME!
MOGLIANO RUGBY AND ROVIGO, OUR PRESIDENT, FIAMME ORO RUGBY AND OUR YOUNG PLAYERS.
QUI L’ARTICOLO ORIGINALE DI UMBERTO NALIO:
A few minutes after the final whistle, Francesco Zambelli came out from the red and blue locker room. He was really satisfied by the victory obtained by his players, even though he recognised the opponent’s weakness:
It was important to win and to obtain our bonus point, even if this victory must not let us forget the difficulty that Mogliano had with its team. It was a positive test at the same time without many difficulties. However we have to be careful in the match against Fiamme Oro Rugby the next Saturday (14th January in Rome), where Umberto Casellato (the head coach of Rovigo in the season 2009/2010) is waiting for us with a little bit of grudge.
A tranquil and clear headed analysis. The match has never been difficult for Rovigo and the players did some errors in the first half caused by the lack of disciple and focus.
The players of Mogliano played giving all their best, but they were all young players (8 over 15 were under 20), who couldn’t defeat the more capable Italian Rugby Champions. Also in the Rovigo team there were young players sustained by their older team mates.
The youngs lined up with courage and necessity by Joe McDonnell gave their contribution to the final victory.
OUR YOUNG PLAYERS
Leonardo Mantelli did some errors, but with his beautiful try he deserved the applause from the supporters who came from Rovigo. A try which demolished the last aspirations of Mogliano.
Francesco Modena enjoyed the match because of the absence of the three most capped centres. He played without errors, he was precise in defense and he had some good offensive spurts.
Filipo cadorini wore the number 2 jersey in the place of Jacques Momberg. The team did not feel the absence of Momberg as Cadorini scored the first try and was a worthy substitute.
Last but not least Antonio Arrigo. We don’t have to forget that the young sicilian right-wing wasn’t part of the players that the team management wanted this summer to reinforce the team. The team wanted to see how he could play, then it accepted him and now he is part of the team. Since the first matches he was appreciated thanks to his determination and speed.
At the Quaggia Stadium, during the 17th minute of the first half he received the ball just in Mogliano’s side of the pitch and, without thinking about it, he broke three tackles and marked a try.
With these youngs Rugby Rovigo Delta will have a decent replacement of its most seasoned players in the future. It’s a shame that from the under 18 Italian rugby Champion team of the last season, only few players decided to play in Rovigo.
